Our Star Will Die Alone

Project Planetaria was a collaboration with UC San Diego faculty  Adam Burgasser (Physics) and Michael Trigilio (Visual Arts). Projects include a co-taught course combining art and physics undergraduate students, and a small sound and video installation, Solar Variations. 

Performed October 2013 as part of the La Jolla Playhouse’s inaugural Without Walls Festival, Our Star is imagined as an experimental, participatory meditation on the life and death of a star. Audience members physically embody the process of fusion in order to activate the design elements, becoming particles that “randomly walk” without instruction, that overcome “repulsion” to “attract” strangers through touching, tuning pitches, and triggering projections with hand-made devices.
